HISTORY
Public awareness and education is required to effectively address the problem of sexually exploited children and youth in our community.
The Fraser Valley Community Action Team Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Youth (FVCAT) began in March 1999 to address these issues, and functions as a sub-committee of the Abbotsford Child and Youth Committee (CYC). The FVCAT is a community group comprised of service providers with the mandate to identify local issues related to sexual exploitation and develop community responses to the identified issues.
The FVCAT meets monthly in Abbotsford and has 10-20 members. New members are welcome to join at any time.
Sponsorship has been provided by the City of Abbotsford, City of Mission, City of Chilliwack, Abbotsford Police Department, Greater Vancouver Regional District, Abbotsford Youth Commission and the Ministry of Public Safety and the Solicitor General.
